Independence Day🇺🇸

– Pastor Rusty - July 4, 2024

Independence Day is a uniquely American holiday. Nobody but the U.S.A. celebrates the 4th of July. It commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence that took place on July 4th, 1776. After a year of war with England the 2nd Continental Congress made a Declaration of Independence from England. The thirteen colonies officially broke league with England and declared to be independent states. 56 members of the 2nd Continental Congress signed the document. Though it doesn’t appear to be unanimous, it was declared to be “The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America.” These truly brave souls knew they would be charged with treason to the Crown and if caught, would have surely been executed. I believe they were soberly acting under the hand of God and were desirous of forming a more perfect union.🧐 A unified state, with a common core. Like the tribes of Israel they realized their unity was their strength.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is

when brothers dwell in unity!

It is like the precious oil on the head,

running down on the beard,

on the beard of Aaron,

running down on the collar of his robes!

It is like the dew of Hermon,

which falls on the mountains of Zion!

For there the LORD has commanded the blessing,

life forevermore.” Psa. 133.1-3

“Father, cause your people to be courageous in this season. And make us one, even as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one! If one can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand. Make us brave in turbulent times… make us men and women of faith! In Jesus name… Amen!”
